Healthcare for Children and AdultsBy R. K. "Skip" DaumCandidate for State Senator; District 1 | |

Early childhood healthcare and physician directed treatmentThroughout my several years of service as an effective legislative advocate in behalf of children's health services, and for the California Association of Children's Homes on foster care programs, I have vigorously fought for childhood immunizations, scoliosis screenings, disability prevention, and protective and counseling services. It's simple common sense that early diagnosis and treatment prevents greater problems and reduces taxpayer costs as we grow older. Access to doctors and nurse practitioners is vitally important, especially in our more rural areas of the 1st senate district. Physicians should determine treatment... not HMOs or an insurance plan administrator. Patients should have unfettered access to all their personal health records. Prescribed medicines should be available seven days a week and their costs should be lowered. If the same drugs are currently available for much less in Canada and elsewhere, why not here? I would work to make it happen. When I am elected as the "Citizen Senator" for the 1st Senate District, my constituents will have the most forthright and hardest working Senator in California. |
