While not a dues-paying member of any libertarian organization, I have studied the history and philosophy of libertarians in this country since reading an obscure novel by L. Neil Smith in 1981. In my studies I came to realize how important libertarian ideals were to the founding fathers when they formed this country. At the same time I could see how these ideals have been slowly corrupted ever since.

These ideals are simple and covered in a single sentence:

  • everyone has a right to live their life in any manner they deem appropriate, free from interference by government or other individuals, so long as that manner does not interfere with the rights of another.

From this springs everything that libertarians stand for. Yet despite how strongly we may feel about our philosophy, we will never force it upon anyone. We may try to argue with, persuade, and cajole you to see our point of view, but in the end, we will not force you to do anything against your will, so long as you do no harm to us or others. However, be aware that we will vigorously protect ourselves from those that try to harm us.

Can any other party lay claim to these beliefs?

Republicans are trying to limit who you can marry, what you do in your bedroom, and they want you to subscribe only to Judeo-Christian philosophy. Also, despite their protestations, they want you to pay for the privilege.

Democrats want to take away your ability to defend yourself against tyranny, tell you how to breathe, and even how to think. And they too want you to pay them to force you to live by their rules.

Please take a moment to think about the ideals you hold dear and realize that the our current government is moving away from those ideals.

Vote libertarian...

It's really the only logical choice.
