PUBLIC SAFETY:

As your City Council Member I will lead the fight to:

...Ban "ultra-compact" handguns that are equipped with large caliber ammunitions that currently do not fall under the city or state "junk gun" bans.

...Equip all Hayward Police Officers with trigger locks for their firearms to send the message that guns need to be locked to protect our loved ones at home.

...Work with police, the city, and neighborhoods to make available trigger locks, at cost, to all our citizens.

...Get our police the best available crime investigation technology.

...Prevent further gun violence by tracing all guns that are seized in crimes back to the "straw purchasers" and prosecuting these crimes.

...Expand Community Policing in impacted neighborhoods and patrols in all neighborhoods.

LIBRARY:

As a former school reading tutor and early childhood education aide, I know that reading is the greatest investment we can make for our children. As your council member I will:

...Be your leader in passing a library bond that matches Hayward's 35% commitment in the event that the Library Initiative, Proposition 14, passes. I urge all citizens of Hayward to Vote Yes on 14.

...We need to give our children the opportunity to say yes to books and no to drugs, guns, and crime.
