1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?
|
Answer from Choke Crawford:
Lincoln Heights is well served.
Answer from Laverne Mitchell:
Public transportation in our community is adequate to access employment south of Lincoln
Heights and towards Tri-County. However, many employment opportunities in the Blue Ash/
Montgomery area could be accessed by creating an extended bus route for Bus 43 that could
connect with an extended route of Bus 4 in Evendale.
Answer from Wanda Brookins-Thomas:
With our surrounding communities growing along the Springfield Pike area this allows for more jobs in the area. With public transportation these jobs are accessible to the residents of Lincoln Heights. There are many residents in Lincoln Heights who rely on public transportation to and from jobs, grocery shopping, and church services etc.
2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.
|
Answer from Wanda Brookins-Thomas:
I think a County wide campaign finance regulations plan would be a plus because there may be others who would not need financial help and then there are those who need the help. The campaigning could then be equal to everyone running for office.
Answer from Choke Crawford:
Yes! It would give balance.
Answer from Laverne Mitchell:
I am opposed to public matching funds. The current regulations limiting campaign contributions
are adequate; in my community corporate donations rarely occur but I do understand the need to
level the playing field. Individual should be permitted to give what they want. The disclosure
laws now in effect are sufficient.
3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?
|
Answer from Wanda Brookins-Thomas:
Many times we cannot see things right away. Since times the benefits or greater then one could imagine such as all the businesses that are now here in Lincoln Heights. Once upon a time where those businesses now start was Forest. Without the expansion of 75 North and South this area would not have been available or accessible.
Answer from Choke Crawford:
Citizen's opinions.
Answer from Laverne Mitchell:
Land use planning should be done in conjunction with or be made compatible with zoning. Too
often land use planning is done in the abstract. The economic and social development of the
community. The detriment occurs when there is no flexibility in either. After a period of time
some plans or zoning laws may become obsolete. It is not always possible to anticipate the
needs of the time.
