1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?
|
Answer from Bill Puthoff, Jr.:
I think that we have satisfactory public transportation to the area
Answer from James A. Guthrie:
While additional public transportation to and
from Evendale might be helpful to some businesses in addressing their staffing needs,
I'm more concerned about a growing need for safe and dependable public transportation
for aging residents.
Answer from Phillip J. Schneider:
As our industrial base continues to expand we need to provide alternative transportation for employees who can't afford their own car.
Answer from David J. Harwood:
Hamilton County needs to develop East-West transportation in addition to North-South transportation into the Central City.
Answer from Betty D. Schappacher:
Have to take poll and see how many feel it is needed. We just took large axle trucks off Glendale-Milford so I wouldn't like to replace them with buses unless necessary.
2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.
|
Answer from James A. Guthrie:
This might be an issue in some Hamilton
County communities, but I do not believe it is an issue in Evendale. Therefore, without
more information on the scope of this problem, I would be reluctant to support any new
regulations in this area.
Answer from David J. Harwood:
Although well intended, I have serious concerns that such regulations infringe upon basic Constitutional rights of freedom of speech and association.
Answer from Betty D. Schappacher:
I do not support any public matching funds for campaign contributions.
Answer from Phillip J. Schneider:
N/A
Answer from Bill Puthoff, Jr.:
The small amount of money that is spent in our local campaigns would not warrant any further regulations
3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?
|
Answer from Bill Puthoff, Jr.:
I would support the planning of land use in the commercial and industrial areas of the village
Answer from David J. Harwood:
Good land use planning helps development and reduces zoning conflicts. Evendale has just revised it's zoning code after spending much time planning for our community.
Answer from James A. Guthrie:
The benefits far outweigh any
detriments. While land use planning might delay or preclude some developers from
hastily developing a tract or tracts of land, the long-range benefits of a well-planned
area are worth any short-term losses.
Answer from Betty D. Schappacher:
Our Zoning was laid out by our forefathers and has served us well, business west of Reading Road and residential east.
Answer from Phillip J. Schneider:
Planning keeps everyone focused on long-term needs versus short-term gains. It also lets perspective tenants know what to expect as expansion continues.
