1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?

Answer from Eric Paul Simon:

Like to see bus (Metro) route in Cleves and would like to see Cleves be in the light rail plan

Answer from Larry Loebker:

I believe public transportation is an asset and that the residents of the Village of Cleves would benefit from it. First, I have researched the viability of Metro Bus to provide a morning rush hour route and evening rush hour route. At this time, it si not financially feasible for the Village to participate in the program. Currently, the residents who utilize the service drive to Sayler Park and pick up the bus there. Second, I am proposing that the residents of Cleves utilize the Ride Share program. There are a number of residents who could benefit from the Ride Share program commuting to downtown Cincinnati and the Blue Ash area. Third, I would support a light rail train route from Lawrenceburg to Cincinnati. The benefits of this are twofold: one, the transportation would be quick for the residents and two, the businesses in the Village would be exposed to more people passing through.


2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.

I am in favor of regulating campaign contributions and spending.

Yes, would support


3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?

Answer from Eric Paul Simon:

Before building new structures, sewers, water and traffic need to be addressed.

Answer from Larry Loebker:

The benefits of land use planning prior to zoning decisions are:
1. To allow for a master plan or community development plan to be developed that accounts for the necessary roles a community needs to provide for its citizens and businesses. Specifically, to analyze where in the community recreational needs are addressed, to analyze where businesses should be located and what types of businesses are needed, such as light industrial and retail.
2. Zoning decisions should reflect the land use plan.
3. Land use plans should promote consistency within the community, such as not to mix residential zoning with commercial zoning. In other words, it is taking a look at the community as a whole and determining how to address the needs of the community.
