1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?

Answer from Jane S. Pirman:
Columbia Township enjoys very good Metro service. Public transportation is necessary for economic growth of the community. In Columbia Township only a few areas are lacking in public transport.
2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.

Answer from Jane S. Pirman:
In general, I would support such regulations. However, I do not believe public funds should be used for candidate campaigns.
3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?

Answer from Jane S. Pirman:
By determining the potential uses for land, zoning decisions can be made to maximize each area. Some uses may be totally imappropriate, such as heavy industrial near a residential area, and prior study allows these concerns to be addressed.
Buffer zones are preferred between various zoned areas.
