1. What are your views regarding the need for public transportation in your community to promote access to employment throughout the region?
|
Answer from Terry Tranter:
The current Metro Bus system may currently be sufficient. As to light rail, I appreciate the way property values generally increase from such a system, on the other hand, the location of the station must be carefully considered to minimize disruption of the neighborhood 's existing character.
Answer from Helen T. Geraci:
Rpid transit is fine as long as it is well planned and doesn't destroy a community.
2. Would you be in favor of county-wide campaign finance regulations that would provide for public matching funds, limit campaign contributions and provide for more disclosure? State your opinions on these ideas; whether you would support or oppose them.

I view any restrictions to the amount of campaign funding as a violation of the 1st Amendment guarantee of free speech. Therefore I am against any such regulation
Answer from Helen T. Geraci:
County-wide campaign finance regulations/ no public matching funds (no tax dollars) Yes- limit campaign contributions. Yes- more disclosure.
3. What are the benefits/detriments to land use planning prior to zoning decisions?
