This information is provided by the candidate |
Candidate's StatementI graduated from area public schools, earned an A.A from Modesto Junior College, B.A. and Teaching Credential from UCLA, and Master's and Doctorate in Education from the University of Illinois. As a full-time instructor at MJC since 1980, I have served on the Curriculum Committee and Academic Senate. Prior to 1980, I successfully taught for six years at the high school level. Having served the community as a trustee for the Sylvan Union Schol District for the past eight years, I ask you to return me to the Sylvan Governing Board for another term. Since 1991, the District has built two new schools, successfully completed five new multi-purpose buildings, negotiated harmoniously with employee organizations, adopted sound educational policies and budgets, developed strong curriculum for traditional and year-round programs, supported student sports and activities, and placed students and their educational futures first. I have been Board President, founding member of the Sylvan Foundation, Communications Circle member, PTA member and have assisted with modifications to the middle school physical education program including asthma education, and urged that intersession assist students toward graduation. I hope that my depth of experience, education and commitment to student success will enable you to vote for me. |
