Programs for TeensBy Debra H. LewisCandidate for Council Member; Proposed City of Rancho Santa Margarita | |

Providing our teens with a safe place to go and programs to use their time constructively benefits the entire community.I strongly believe that our teens need attention. There are many programs for young children, which I commend. But when children become teenagers, they should have safe places to congregate with other local teens and programs designed to help them mature into independent adults. Teenagers' need for their own space and their parents' need to protect their children can and should coexist. The entire community benefits when teenagers are not hanging out in parking lots, unsupervised, with nothing to do and nowhere to go. My husband and I raised our two daughters in this community and we have first hand experience with this problem. I intend to devote time and energy to our teens' needs. |
