BOB'S AAUW FORUM REMARKS, OCTOBER 13By Bob PatrinoCandidate for Council Member; City of San Ramon | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Here is my opening statement at the AAUW forum held on October 13, at the San Ramon Community Center.Opening Statement HELLO AND GOOD EVENING. IT IS A PLEASURE FOR ME TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH YOU TONIGHT, HERE IN OUR AWARD WINNING COMMUNITY CENTER. I HAVE DEVOTED MOST OF MY LIFE TO COMMUNITY SERVICE. OVER THE PAST 31 YEARS ( 6 IN SAN RAMON) I HAVE GIVEN COUNTLESS HOURS TO LITTLE LEAGUE, SOCCER, POLICE ACTIVITIES LEAGUES, YMCA's, SCOUTS, SCHOOLS AND OUR CITY. MY PARENTS INSTILLED STRONG VALUES IN ME AND MY SISTER, AND ONE OF THOSE WAS THE VALUE OF COMMUNITY SERVICE. I AM A 21 YEAR EMPLOYEE OF PACIFIC BELL, AND I HAVE EARNED BOTH MY B.A. AND M.B.A WHILE WORKING FULL TIME. I AM ALSO A PROUD 1995 GRADUATE OF LEADERSHIP SAN RAMON VALLEY. MY PLATFORM IS SIMPLE: PEOPLE, PARKS AND PUBLIC SAFETY YOU, ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF OUR CITY AND THE TRUE KEY TO OUR SUCCESS. THERE IS NO PROBLEM THAT YOUR PARTICIPATION WILL NOT SOLVE. I WILL REPRESENT ALL MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY, PARTICULARLY THE VULNERABLE ONES; SENIORS, TEENS AND PHYSICALLY AND DEVELOPMENTLY CHALLENGED. I WILL REPRESENT AND SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES, WHO'S STRENGTH AND STRUCTURE IS CHALLENGED EVERYDAY. WE HAVE AWARD WINNING PARK FACILITIES AND PROGRAMS AND I PROMISE TO NEVER LET THOSE DECLINE. AS A MEMBER OF THE PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMISSION I AM ESPECIALLY PROUD OF OUR FINE TEEN PROGRAMS, INCLUDING THE COMMUNITY AND YOUTH RESOURCE PROGRAM AND OF OUR AWARD WINNING SPECIALIZED RECREATION PROGRAM THAT WORKS WITH OUR DEVELOPMENTLY CHALLENGED YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS. I BELIEVE THAT BY CONTINUING TO WORK COOPERATIVELY WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WE CAN EXPAND THE AFTER SCHOOL RECREATION PROGRAMS. I WILL WORK TO GET BALL FIELDS AND SOCCER FIELDS IN ALL NEW PARK FACILITIES. EVERYONE WANTS PASSIVE PARKS, BUT THE REALITY IS THAT OUR PLAY FIELDS ARE HEAVILY USED, AND THAT OVERCROWDING NEGATIVELY IMPACTS EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD. AS AN ORIGINAL MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE I HAVE WORKED HARD TO ASSURE SUPERIOR LEVELS OF FIRE AND POLICE SERVICE. I SUPPORT THE DARE PROGRAM AND WILL WORK TO EXPAND IT TO CAL HIGH AND INCLUDE ANTI-VIOLENCE TRAINING, ANGER MANAGEMENT CLASSES, AND DATERAPE AND ABUSE AWARENESS TRAINING. I SUPPORT A ZERO TOLERANCE FOR VIOLENT CRIME, GRAFFITTI, GANGS AND DRUGS. I WILL KEEP SAN RAMON'S STREETS, SCHOOLS AND BUSINESS'S SAFE. TAKE A FEW MINUTES BEFORE YOU CAST YOUR VOTE ON NOVEMBER 2 AND LOOK AT MY QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND RECORD. YOU WILL SEE FOR YOURSELF WHO HAS THE EXPERIENCE, LEADERSHIP, COMMITMENT AND ABILITY TO LEAD SAN RAMON INTO THE NEXT CENTURY. I WANT THE BEST FOR SAN RAMON, AND THE BEST FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. VOTE BOB PATRINO, FOR PEOPLE, PARKS AND PUBLIC |
