In my District, the issues are diverse because I have both urban and rural areas. In both areas, issues include the escalating drug and crime problems, quality education in safe neighborhood schools, traffic, increased benefits for the elderly, infrastructure improvements, desirable zoning that is congruous with surrounding areas and quality services for our tax dollars. Issues specific to the urban areas are the need for a permanently funded, workable stormwater management plan and revitalization. Issues specific to the rural areas are improvements of basic water services and controlled development. I am a "people" person and I enjoy being able to help people get solutions. One of the reasons I ran for Council 4 years ago was to direct attention to the problems we have in the 1st District. Just a few of the improvements directed to the 1st District during my term are:
