Growth in NashvilleBy Leonard MorganCandidate for Mayor | |

When a town grows faster then the services that support it, it becomes anything but paradise.I am from Los Angeles originally and I have seen the burden that growth creates. When a town grows faster then the services that support it, it becomes anything but paradise. Why build new when the old is left standing to plague us on a daily basis - Potholes have become familiar historical monuments - being the same ones repaired annually. It doesn't take a genius to understand that if a pothole recurs, it is not being patched correctly. I have driven over familiar roads during heavy rains, to see the same drainage problems engulf my car each year with Noah's flood. Why are we expanding before we have taken care of the simple things? I won't bring in more people each day while ignoring the needs for equipment and personnel in our Police and Fire departments. I won't turn over one department of Metro to private industry. Instead, I will run it like a private business -and make it a business we can be proud of. I believe that sound judgment and the right team, is the answer for this Nashville future and growth. |
