Political Philosophy for Marcus F. HamptonCandidate for |
"My reason for seeking the office of councilman at large is based merely on selfishness. Not selfishness in the sense of not sharing or giving, for that is my sole purpose. I simply refer to selfishness in the sense of not being willing to relinquish the sanctity of safe neighborhoods for everyone from Cumberland View to Woodbine, from Madison to Historic Edgefield. I use the word 'selfishness' in the context of not wanting to settle for an 'all right' education for our children, but an extensive education that will carry them and their children far into the millennium as productive citizens of Nashville. "If elected, I want to be that bridge that connects the people back to the government, to share with the community and the city the knowledge I will obtain while sitting on the council. "The potential for Nashville to become the mecca of commerce, trade and entertainment is great, but without the support and the thriving livelihoods of the many diverse families and communities, Nashville will remain an ordinary city. Selfishly, I want to help keep it our home, a city of comfort, a city of safety and most of all a city that we can be proud of." |
