Richard Fulton has built a successful career in business, public service and community leadership. He served the citizens of Nashville as a state senator, and a 7-term member of Congress. In 1975, Richard Fulton was elected Mayor of Nashville and served three terms until 1987. During his tenure as Mayor, he served as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and the Tennessee Municipal League. After leaving the Mayor's office, Richard Fulton helped launch The Bank of Nashville, where he currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Board. Fulton also was a founding partner of The School Company, a firm active in developing educational facilities. His civic activities include service on the board of the Salvation Army, the Nashville Symphony and the Council of Community Services. He is a member of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, where he serves on the Downtown Partnership Committee and the Sports Council. He is a member of the Methodist Church and served in the United States Navy. Fulton and his wife, Sandra, former Tennessee Commissioner of Tourism and now Vice-President of Industry Relations for Opryland, have six children and eleven grandchildren. |
