Candidate for Council-At-Large

Bringing Davidson County's public schools up to a level of national excellence is a top priority.
Nashville schools can be improved in a number of areas: academic rigor, order and safety for our students and teachers, buildings that can accommodate demand, are in good repair and equipped with adequate materials and technologies, a balance of magnet schools for those interested in pursuing specialized courses of study with equally strong neighborhood schools offering a more traditional curriculum, and outstanding athletic and extra-curricular programs. This vision can only be achieved through the combined efforts of parents, teachers, administrators, the School Board, the City Council, and even the students themselves. For too long these issues have not been addressed due to the lack of a leader that can bring all parties to the table, plan out a responsible and effective strategy, and then see that the resources to make it a success are allocated. My daughter, Erica, will be entering public kindergarten this fall. I have the personal motivation to make education a priority, and the experience necessary to lead the move forward in this arena.
