Position Papers
The War on Drugs
The "war on drugs" is sending the wrong message to our kids. It it is telling them that the Bill of Rights is meaningless. When we demonize drugs and the drug culture, they know we are not telling them the whole truth, causing them to loose respect for anything we say. I would support legislation to remove drug control from law enforcement and place it with public health authorities.
California State Income Tax
California's economy lags other states because of excessive taxation and regulation. I would introduce legislation to end all subsidies and terminate all redundant agencies and commissions making it possible to abolish the state income tax.
Radar and parking meters
Almost every motorist has been outraged by an unjust parking ticket or radar trap. The newest orwellian intrusion into our lives and pocketbooks is photo enforcement of speed and traffic laws. I would introduce legislation to prohibit parking meters and electronic enforcement of traffic laws.
