Full Biography for Dale Jay Dennis

Candidate for
Board Member; Laguna Salada Union Elementary School District

Dale Jay Dennis was born in Pocatello, Idaho, and has lived in many places in the United States. His family moved to Pacifica, California in 1969 while he was in high school. He graduated in 1971 from Terra Nova High School.

Dale attended Skyline College in 1971-72, then transferred to Brigham Young University in 1976. He graduated with a BA in Political Science in 1979, and also received a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army through the ROTC program.

Dale was married to Valerie Ann Gokey of Colonial Heights, Virginia on June 2, 1978 in Oakland, California.

Dale served as a Regular Army officer from 1979 until 1987, rising to the rank of Captain, then returned home to Pacifica. His three children were born while stationed in Virginia and Germany.

Dale's service in the community has included membership on the Laguna Salada Union School District's Finance Advisory Committee for three years. He has also been a member of the board of directors for the Laguna Salada Education Foundation, a non-profit fund-raising organization for the schools in the district. He has organized five annual telethon fund raisers for the foundation on Pacifica's community television station, Channel 8. Through these events, over $30,000 has been contributed to programs in the district.
