Political Philosophy for Betsy CrowderCandidate for |
Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District was established in 1972 to preserve open space, not as a recreation district. Specific at its founding was the philosopy that intensive recreation is within the purview of county and state parks and recreation agencies. Everybody is welcome on District lands. Those with special recreational equipment and desires should confine their uses to specific designated areas for the safety of all preserve visitors and for the preservation and protection of all our lands. Damage of natural resources, which belong to all residents within our boundaries as well as to future generations, should not be allowed. I am in favor of preserving the lands in San Mateo County not now included within our boudaries, as requested by the Friends of Coastal Open Space. New Board policies may need to be developed to address the very different conditions in this region, and I look forward to the challenge. |
