Full Biography for Ron WinshipCandidate for |
As a 46 year resident of Newport Beach, having served my country in the United States Army from 1967 to 69, and being decorated I am uniquely qualified to serve my city as your City Council member from District #4. For those who don't know me, I first moved with my family to Lido Isle in 1952. My family moved to Cameo Shores in 1959 as I attended the University of Southern California. I became involved in the Saturn program for North American Aviation in 1961. After taking a year off in Hawaii in 1963, I returned to the Space Program and transferred to Cape Kennedy in 1966, as a Space Vehicle Test Mechanic and Engineer. I was drafted into the U.S. Army in July of 1967. Upon my return from the Army in 1970, I began my restaurant career with John McIntosh for the Reuben's chain of Far West Services. In 1977, I joined the El Torito chain as a Captain , at the Chanteclair Restaurant, where I strayed until 1984, when I was offered a Sales position with the founding of the Commercial Division of Westec Security. Additionally, I had founded a Database Computer Service Company named REON, with a partner from Northern California. In 1991, my wife Anna and I created Parker-Longbow Public Relations and I worked part-time at the Villa Nova restaurant for Andy and Charlene Crean. In 1994, the Villa Nova burned down and my wife Anna and I seriously pursued a true dream of our lifetimes by entering the "movie business" as aspiring actors. Dreams do in fact come true, and we are now dedicated actors, still concerned with the welfare of others, especially those within the city of Newport Beach. Our campaign is supported by those within this city that know that we offer Newport Beach a fresh approach, creativity, resourcefullness and a great desire to serve our residents and businesses with a vision for the future that will insure independent spirit and caring. |
