Political Philosophy for John G. StuparCandidate for |
I want to encourage new and existing businesses in the city. We should lower business license fees, sponsor small business fairs, and have a Small Business Council to advise the city on ways to enhance business. I understand the needs and concerns of business owners, having taught Small Business Ownership and Management and having worked in business for over 25 years, and having consulted with small business owners. I believe the city should study the possibilities of privatization of services. We should know the problems and study the solutions and use good business sense. Capitalism does work! I support the privatization of the water delivery, maintenance and billing through a leasing agreement, not , however , by selling it outright. I support the Cultural Arts Center, and feel it can be paid for by a combination of state and federal grants and private organizations fund raising. We need a more proactive Cultural Commission which will address current needs. Such a cultural center will also help to bring together the diverse groups in this city through such things as International Fairs and gatherings. |
