Protecting the City's Interests in Dana Point Harbor

By Wayne F. Rayfield

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Dana Point

This information is provided by the candidate
The City Council must be more actively involved with the County regarding the plans to renovate the Harbor.
The County is planning to renovate Dana Point Harbor and wants to expand commercial space by 24,000 squre feet to increase income. It also wants to add a parking structure.

Dana Point residents and people who use the Harbor have been unanimous in the view that the character and family nature of the Harbor should be retained. Our City Council should represent these views and become much more active with the County to ensure that the County's plans do not adversely impact our City. We should see that the interests of local business owners in the Harbor are addressed and that the renovation plans do not impose unfair burdens on them. We should also be certain that the the plans do not impose burdens on the City, such as significant increases in traffic at PCH and Del Obispo, an intersection which is already over capacity.

Dana Point Harbor is the jewel of the California Harbors - our City must work to keep it that way.
