Academic StandardsBy Kathi O'BrienCandidate for Governing Board Member; Los Alamitos Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Our focus as a district is the alignment of our academic program to the California state standards. As a community, we have reason to be proud of our schools. Los Alamitos High School was recently named a National Blue Ribbon School for the third time. This three-time honor has been earned by only four high schools in the state of California. Additionally, all eligible Los Alamitos Unified schools have been honored as California Distinguished Schools. It is imperative, however, that we continue to prepare all students for the competitive and demanding world of work. As a board, it is our responsibility to continue to revise and monitor the curriculum so that it meets the needs of students and is aligned to the identified state standards and frameworks. Our district will continue to use multiple test measures, including individual student portfolio writings, various grade level assessments, and the SAT 9 statewide testing program to evaluate student achievement. |
