Robert Nichols' Candidate Statement

By Robert F. Nichols

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Dana Point

This information is provided by the candidate
Becoming a City Council Member is my way to give back to the community what Dana Point has given to me. Help me support your voices in preserving our community and our individual freedoms.

My 6-year Planning Commission record is self-evident. I voted against the original Headlands Specific Plan projects that exacted harsh penalties against citizens; public events without adequate neighborhood protection. I voted for projects that benefited our community's businesses and people.

As an attorney, I understand legal processes affecting City government; As a former Bank Director, the economic realities of life; as a Planning Commissioner, the need to stand up for people above overburdening government and development; and as a person, the dignity of every human being.

I was involved in the General Plan, Zoning Code and both Headlands Planning processes. The Headlands is not only complex issue we face. I am against oppressive regulation. I am for economic stability. Preserving our small town environment is really important to me.

I am not a politician. I attack ISSUES - not people. My goal, if elected, is to listen carefully and make decisions fairly but always for the benefit of our citizens.

" In Nichols we trust" is not just words.
