El Toro Airport Position Paper

By Kathryn "Kathy" McCullough

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Lake Forest

This information is provided by the candidate
I stand totally opposed to ANY aviation use of MCAS-ET.
I opposed the closing of MCAS-ET because of my husband's service in the Marine Corps for twenty-four years, and the experiences I had living on the base. They gave me the understanding of the need for the base to remain for ournational defense, and also, for the services it provides to the retired military living in our area. Therefore, it was natural for me to get involved in the drive to oppose 'Measure A" and the petition campaign that culminated in 'Measure S'. I was an active signature collector at such locations as the Home Base in Goothill Ranch, the carnival at the Catholic Church and in my neighborhood,.. I was proud to be present at the ceremony we had when we turned in the sigbnatures to the Registrar of Voters,. I spoke before the Board of Supervisors at thge hearing that produced the approval of theEIR, was quoted by TV and print media at that time, attended the Rallies Against theAirport in Santa Ana and in Irvine. I have also attended the side-by-side presentations of the airport plan and the Millennium Plan.
