Full Biography for Mary C FuhrmanCandidate for |
My family moved to Buena Park in 1967 and our five children attended Beatty School. In 1970 I returned to teaching in the district beginning at Emery and later Lindberg and Beatty Schools. Retiring in 1993, I ran for the Governing Board in 1994. Although I was well trained in curriculum issues, I felt a need to acquire all the other knowledge and skills required by a board member. Therefore, I took more than 60 hours of training from California School Boards Association earning a Master of Boardsmanship. In early 1995 I recruited volunteers, including myself, to work at least one hour a week with primary students who were at-risk in reading skills. I am an active member of the American Association of University Women and sing with the William Hall Chorale where I also serve on the Guild Board. |
