Political Philosophy for Jan M. FloryCandidate for |
I am running for reelection because I believe that at the local level, government works best and is most responsive to its citizens. One person can make a difference. In the past four years, I have seen it happen over and over again. It is my belief that at its most essential level, a city government must provide a safe, healthy living environment for its citizens. This includes many responsibilities that range from police and fire protection to providing a safe, dependable water supply. In addition, we must maintain our infrastructure and amenities sufficient to attract and retain commerce to our city. Because of the hard work of dedicated city employees, Fullerton has survived a severe economic downturn in recent years. Nonetheless, city services continue to be maintained at a high level despite the fact that there are fewer city employees today than in 1980 when our population was 25% less! As a city councilmember, my task is to balance competing demands for limited resources so that as many citizens as possible are served. I believe that I have the experience, education and enthusiam to work toward this goal in the next four years. |
