Proposed Commercial & Cargo Airport at El ToroBy Cathryn B. "Cassie" DeYoungCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Laguna Niguel | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I am absolutely opposed to any airport at El Toro.I am opposed to the development of a commercial or cargo airport at El Toro. I went to Washington D.C. and met with Congressman Chris Cox to voice our opposition to the proposed commercial airport. During that meeting, I reinforced how important the prevention of an El Toro airport is to the citizens of Laguna Niguel. My commitment to stopping the El Toro airport began the moment I discovered that plans were underway for a conversion. I have worked with Councilwoman Pat Bates, Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer and Supervisor Tom Wilson in our effort against the El Toro airport. I have also supported the No Jets Committee and the TRP (Taxpayers for Responsible Planning, the anti-airport committee). The future of Laguna Niguel lies ahead and we need good leadership to steer us in the right direction. My experience as a Planning Commissioner, an Environmental Review Board Member and as an attorney, both in the public and private sector, will provide me with the background necessary to provide good leadership for our city. We can and we will win this battle if we are creative and strong-willed. I am endorsed by our anti-airport leaders, Bill Kogerman of TRP, Wayne Rayfield,Chairman of the El Toro Coalition and Tristan Krogius Co-Director of "No Jets". I am also endorsed by Laguna Niguel City Council members Pat Bates, Mimi Walters, Mayor Pro-Tem Mark Goodman, Mayor Linda Lindholm, and Orange County Supervisor Todd Spitzer. I ask for your support on November 3rd. |
