Full Biography for Keith Gainey

Candidate for
Governing Board Member Term Ending 2000; Mojave Unified School District

My name is Keith Gainey, and I am running for a seat on the school board in the Mojave Unified School District. The following information is provided as an introduction for those with whom I am not acquainted, and as an insight for those I have known for many years.

I was born in Lancaster and, for the most part, raised in East Kern County. I currently reside in Mojave, with my wife, and Mojave High School sweetheart, Robin (Friend). This year we will celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary and 17th year together. We have an eight year old daughter (Shalena), a five year old son (Steele), and a 1 year old son (Sagun). Obviously, we have a long-term interest in the direction of the Mojave Unified School District.

Academically, I have had a variety of experiences, in many districts, at various grade levels. I believe that this type of background adds a comparative perspective that is essential to decisions made by a school board. I have had the opportunity to attended school on the West Coast, East Coast, and in the heartland of America; and have witnessed the diversity of government school systems, public school systems, and private school systems.

The following is a short outline of my educational history: Muroc Unified (Edwards) K - 2nd; Mojave Unified (California City) 3rd - 4th; Dover Schools (Delaware) 5th - 6th; Rosamond - 7th; Mojave Unified (Mojave) 8th - 12th; Antelope Valley College (Lancaster) General Education; Graceland College (Iowa) - Bachelor of Arts, Business Administration.

I was involved in athletics throughout high school, lettering in three sports. I earned honors of which I am proud of to this day, including MVP and captain honors in football 1981 and 1982; AV Press All-Star team 1982; Free-throw Champion 1983, DIL Champion - Baseball 1983, and Mustang of The Year 1983.

Professionally, I have been involved in the accounting field for seven years, with management level experience for the last five years. I have been employed by Aerotest, Inc. (Mojave), Taco Bell (Mojave), Rawlings Golf (Chatsworth), Leslies Pool Supplies (Chatsworth), and presently Golden Queen Mining Company, Inc. (Mojave).

My community involvement has been served by working with children in athletics, coaching the Junior Varsity Mustangs in football for 3 years, Varsity Boys Basketball for 1 year, Mojave Youth Football Stallions (seniors) for 1 year, and currently serving as President of the Mojave Youth Football League.
