Arguments For Measure K |
The City of Ridgecrest has had an employee reduction of approximately 52% since 1991 due to dramatic reductions in general fund revenues during that same time period.
The substantial part of the City's revenue is based on population. It is predicted that the year 2000 census will lead into further reduction in City revenue from specific sources. To provide the same level of City service while awaiting economic recovery, additional revenues must be generated in order to not cut service programs. The proposed 2% utility user tax, Measure "K", would generate approximately $400,000 per year for a period of 2 years. Based on consumption and usage an average household could be affected by up to $4.00 per month. s/John I. Sterling, Interim City Administrator
