A WRYE Thought on Vouchers

By Billy Wrye

Vouchers will become a weapon of destruction - destruction of the public school system.
Unfortunately Vouchers, as designed in Arizona, will become a weapon of destruction - destruction of the Public School System. Under the guise of "choice" they are designed to provide tuition to students attending exclusive, private schools. Openings in private schools are limited to non-existent. MY THOUGHT: Vouchers are unnecessary! Public tax funds diverted from the Public Schools undermine the stability of the Public Schools. It is disturbing that the Superintendent of Public Instruction is leading the charge to implement Vouchers. I believe the constitution prohibits such an arrangement and that private schools would resist the conditions imposed on them before the could receive state tax money.
