I believ the role of government is to enhance the quality of life for individuals. Government is responsible to the people in regard to financial accountability. Prudence and frugality should be the benchmarks that government uses in spending tax dollars. Government should give individuals the biggest "bang for the (taxpayers) buck."

Government has a role to provide a safety net for those individuals who are most vulnerable; i.e. kids and seniors. Education should be the right of every child, and seniors should be allowed to live their golden years without the stress of mounting medical bills and esculating property taxes. However, individuals owe personal responsibility and a commitment to give back to the community. In other words, when an individual receives a government benefit, i.e. disability payments, then that individual should commit to giving something back. For example, such individuals could help teach another to read.

Effect government is one that operates smoothly, and one that allows each individual personal liberty, and the right to be left alone.
