Education

By Jeff Hatch-Miller

Candidate for State Representative; District 26

This information is provided by the candidate
We've been getting some good news about education in Arizona. But don't for a minute believe our job is finished. Arizona's schools still rank lower than many other states. Good education isn't so much about better buildings as about skilled teachers, motivated students and a curriculum that challenges and enriches. Parents want schools where their children are safe and learning up to their full potential. Society needs schools that instill the basic knowledge and skills necessary for success. Arizona can provide higher quality schools by:

  • Aiming for a "Top 10 in academic performance" ranking.
  • Ensuring bureaucracies and inefficiencies don't gobble up funds.
  • Establishing meaningful standards for students and teachers.
  • Rewarding quality teaching.
  • Stressing respect for authority and the value of hard work.
