A government that is big enough to give you all you want is big enough to take it all away --Barry Goldwater
I believe we need to take more responsibility for our own lives and stop looking to the "government" for answers. Libertarians believe people are a government unto themselves and are capable of making their own decisions, just as long as they do not infringe upon another person's rights. There are many laws which are unnecessary, such as seat belts, helmets, smoking bans, etc. Is a seat belt a good idea? Yes, it is. Should it be mandatory? No, it should not.

Anotber unnecessary law is the "smoking ban". An owner of a private restaurant and/or bar should be able to decide for himself whether or not smoking is permitted in his establishment. Prior to the smoking ban, there were several restaurants who catered to non-smokers. That was a decision made by the owners, not the government. Economic laws of supply and demand dictate that if there is a demand for non-smoking establishments, there will be a supply of them.

It all boils down to CHOICE. Who chooses what is best for your life? You or the government?
